Maharashtra Board Solutions for Class 9

Class 9 solutions are for English, Geography, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Political Science and Science. This is the year before SSC, and Std 10 will not reteach it. Geometry in Std 10 starts from the triangle work you do now. Science and Technology in Std 10 splits into two papers from the ideas in this one book. Attempt every exercise before you open the answer. If a solution loses you on the second line, the gap is usually the previous chapter, and that is the chapter to reread.

Subjects filed for Class 9

English, Geography, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Political Science and Science. Marathi, Sanskrit and a separate Civics book are not on this list. Political Science is the civics paper at this stage. Open the subject, then the chapter. Answers follow the exercise order. Most are scanned pages.

Why this year is not a warm-up

Std 10 Algebra and Geometry are separate board papers. Several Geometry chapters, including Similarity and Pythagoras, assume you can already use the triangle results from Std 9. If a Class 10 solution later feels impossible at line two, come back here and do the Std 9 chapter it depends on.

Science is still one course in Std 9 and becomes Part 1 and Part 2 in Std 10. A solution you only copied will not give you the definition Std 10 asks you to extend. Write the definition in your own notebook once, then look.

How to read an answer at this level

SubjectWhat the examiner-style answer includes
MathematicsGiven, construction or formula, working, result. A bare number is not the answer.
ScienceDefinition, reason, and a labelled diagram where the question asks for one. Units on every numerical.
History and Political ScienceA direct first sentence that answers the question, then one example. Long introductions don't earn the mark.
GeographyThe place, the reason, and the map or diagram label. India-and-region questions need both names.
English and HindiThe activity the question asked for: grammar, extract, or a short piece of writing. Match the form, not a memorised paragraph.

The six-step check

  1. Read the chapter before the exercise.
  2. Attempt it cold. Ten minutes on a hard sum, five on a short answer.
  3. Star the exact line where you stopped.
  4. Open the solution only to that line, then close it and finish.
  5. If you still can't, read one more line. Don't read the final answer first.
  6. Redo starred questions after three days, book closed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Civics listed separately?

No. Use Political Science for the civics chapters.

Are there Marathi solutions?

Not for Class 9. Languages here are English and Hindi.

The solution uses a formula we have not been taught. What should I do?

Check the chapter number. You may be in the wrong exercise, or the formula is in an example a few pages earlier. Use the textbook example before you adopt a step you cannot explain.
