Years and subjects on this page
The year folders run 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Counts rise toward the recent years: 2026 has 8 papers, 2024 has 8, 2025 has 7, 2023 has 6, and 2018 has 1. By subject you will find Mathematics (7 papers across 4 years), Social Science (7 papers), English (5), Geography (5), Science (4), Hindi (3), History (2), History and Political Science (2), Marathi (2) and Economics (1).
History, History and Political Science, Geography, Social Science and Economics are filed under the names on the papers. If you are looking for one social-science test, check Social Science and the separate History and Geography cards before you decide it is missing.
What these papers are for
A Std 9 school paper is written by a school or a group of schools. The pattern is usually close to the board style the same students will meet in Std 10, but the balance of chapters is whatever that test was meant to cover. A first-term paper will not include the last units of the textbook. Read the instructions on the first page before you treat a paper as a full-syllabus mock.
The chapters that matter most for next year are the ones Std 10 builds on. In Geometry, triangle properties from Std 9 are assumed by Similarity and Pythagoras. In Science, the Std 9 course is one book, and Std 10 splits it into Part 1 and Part 2. A Std 9 science paper is a good way to find out which half of that book you actually remember.
How to practise with them
- Start with the latest year that has your subject. For most subjects that is 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Sit one paper in the time printed on it. If no time is printed, use 2 hours for a short test and 3 hours for a full subject paper.
- Mark it from the textbook, not from memory. School papers sometimes phrase a definition more loosely than the book. The book is the line your teacher will accept.
- Keep a short list of questions you could not start. Those are the Std 9 gaps to close before Std 10, especially in Mathematics and Science.
- Don't skip 2021 and 2022 because the folders are small. Two papers can still be the Social Science test you wanted.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these Maharashtra Board exam papers?
No. Std 9 is a school exam. These are unit tests, term papers and semester papers. The board exam is in Std 10.
Why are older years mostly one subject?
The early folders we hold are mostly Social Science. Later years add English, Mathematics, Science, Hindi and Geography. Use the subject cards if you want every year of one subject in one place.
Can I use a Std 9 maths paper to prepare for SSC?
Use it to test Std 9 skills. SSC Algebra and Geometry have their own chapter list and their own 40-mark pattern. Move to the Class 10 previous year papers once those chapters are underway.
