Maharashtra Board Previous Year Papers for Class 12

These are Maharashtra Board HSC papers for Class 12, from 2007 to 2026, with no 2021 folder because that March written exam was cancelled. English, Hindi and Marathi go back the furthest. Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics start in earnest from 2012. Commerce, Arts and vocational papers become common from 2022. The fullest recent year is 2025, with 30 papers. 2026 has 29, and it does not yet include Chemistry, Biology or Book-Keeping and Accountancy. How the archive is split

YearsWhat you will findHow to use them
2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026Current syllabus, in place since 2020-21. 2025 is the fullest set. 2026 is large but still missing Chemistry, Biology and Book-Keeping.Full timed papers. This is the pattern to trust.
2012 to 2020Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths, plus languages. Many years also have a July or October paper. 2020 is the last old-syllabus written exam we hold.Chapter practice only. Don't time them as a mock or trust the score.
2007 to 2011Languages: English, Hindi, Marathi.Extra language practice. Not a guide to today's science or commerce papers.

There is no 2021 board paper. The 2026 folder also contains school papers labelled as a semester test, a first unit test or a preliminary. A prelim is good practice because colleges set it to the board pattern. The March board paper is still the benchmark.

Subjects and how far back they go

English has papers in 19 years, Hindi and Marathi in 16, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in 14, and Mathematics in 11. Mathematics and Statistics, the name used on the current books, has a shorter run of 4 papers in 3 years. Secretarial Practice has 7 papers, Organisation of Commerce and Management 6, Economics 6, Book-Keeping and Accountancy 4, and Accountancy is also filed under its own name for 2 papers. Open both names if you are looking for accountancy. Geography, Political Science, History, Psychology and Sociology are fewer, mostly recent. Vocational and applied papers include Agriculture, Automobile Technology, Electronics, Computer Science, Fisheries, Fresh Water Fish Culture, Horticulture, Mechanical Maintenance, Entrepreneurship Development and Tamil.

Arts and Science Mathematics and Commerce Mathematics are different papers. The file name has to match the book. A Commerce student who sits an Arts and Science paper will meet vectors and pair of lines that are not on the Commerce syllabus, and will miss commercial maths that is.

What the current paper looks like

Physics, Chemistry and Biology theory is 70 marks in 3 hours. Section A is 18 marks, all compulsory: 10 one-mark MCQs and 8 one-mark very short answers. Section B is 8 of 12 questions for 2 marks each. Section C is 8 of 12 for 3 marks. Section D is 3 of 5 for 4 marks. Practicals are 30 marks and are not on these papers.

Mathematics and Statistics is 80 marks in 3 hours. The MCQs are 2 marks each, so Section A is 20 marks and is worth as much as Section B. Work every MCQ on rough paper. Guessing an 2-mark MCQ is an expensive habit. Section B is 8 of 12 two-mark questions, Section C is 8 of 12 three-mark questions, and Section D is 5 of 8 four-mark questions.

Book-Keeping is 80 marks. The first question is about 20 marks of odd-one-out, agree or disagree, and one-word terms, then long problems. English is prose, poetry, writing skills and the novel, 80 marks. Economics, History and Geography are 80-mark papers with a block of objective items and then reasons, distinguish, and map or diagram work.

The choice in Sections B and C is where prepared students save time. Decide the four questions you will not attempt before you write the first long answer.

How many years to solve

For each board subject, aim for four full timed papers from 2022 onwards. That is enough to learn the choice and the clock. Use 2012 to 2020 only to drill a derivation, a named reaction or a partnership format, and don't record those as mock scores. Do your strongest subject's latest paper last, so one sitting stays unseen.

If a 2026 paper for your subject is missing, take 2025. That is the case right now for Chemistry, Biology and Book-Keeping and Accountancy. Supplementary papers from July or October, where we have them, are the same syllabus and make a good fifth sitting.

Sitting the paper

  1. Three hours, closed book, phone in another room. Write the finish time before you read Section A.
  2. Section A first, on rough work for anything that is not instant. In Maths that block is 20 marks.
  3. Mark the questions you are dropping in Sections B, C and D. Then answer the ones you kept, in order, so you don't hunt through the paper later.
  4. Stop at 3 hours. Mark from the textbook wording for definitions and from a worked solution only after the whole paper is done.
  5. One line in an error log is enough: question, what went wrong, what you will do next time. Redo that question after three days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which year matches the current syllabus?

Written papers from 2022 onwards. The revised syllabus started in 2020-21, the 2021 exam was not held as a written paper, and 2022 is the first written set we have on it.

Why is Chemistry missing in 2026?

The 2026 folder does not have Chemistry, Biology or Book-Keeping and Accountancy yet. Use the 2025 papers for those subjects until they are added.

Are October papers worth doing?

Yes, as extra practice on the same syllabus. If you only do one paper from a year, choose the March paper.

Can I prepare for MHT-CET from these papers alone?

No. These are HSC theory papers. CET is a different pattern, with a large share of Std 12 and a smaller share of Std 11, and it is more application-based. HSC papers still show whether the Std 12 chapters are secure.
